Mysterious tree
Larger version (2006 May)
I have a small but nice tree in my back garden. I don't know what it is. In early May the tree looked like this. Most probable is "Prunus Persia 'Prince Charming' small upright double red form", although a google search comes up with only this. Many thanks in particular to news:uk.rec.gardening posters for the assistance so far. Any info is very much appreciated.

My mystery tree hasn't had a lot of growth, and the leaves seem to have been listed as fine cuisine in whatever gourmet guide the zillion bugs that live around here refer to. A few laterals have grown (slightly), but otherwise the size is much the same as in spring. Good light, excellent soil, plenty of rain, so whatever it is, it grows slowly.

Sizes etc - From ground to where the stem has been cut is 48cm high. The top of one of the laterals is nearly 60cm from the ground. Warm & windy, flowers are wilting and bees have departed. Lots of new shoots. Click on thumbprint for 600 pixel width version. Click on text beneath image for original sized image (largish).
