I took the day off today and have done practically nothing. Slept in until 2pm, bought a composter, mowed the lawn, read a book, drank a beer. A really cool friend is coming over for dinner, but I feel a bit too lazy for cooking, so I'll leave the Hida Gyuu in the freezer and take her out to a restaurant somewhere instead. Maybe the new Italian place that will probably go bust soon - great food, bad location. Took a couple of photos earlier, the California Rose has a lovely array of flowers and has done well. There are some weeds occasionally but the weed matting / rock combination is doing the job. Avid readers in Santa Fe might recognise the tile visible in the photo on the right.

The California Rose seems to be coping OK with the heat. The soil is great and its getting a lot of light, but I noticed the leaves wilting so it will be getting a good drink morning and evening for the time being.
